Frequently Asked Questions
Our beef is certified organic by the OCIA. Our cattle are raised on certified organic pastures and receive no antibiotics or hormones.
Without antibiotics, up to 75% of feedlot-finished cattle would have livers unfit for human consumption (Union of Concerned Scientists 2001).
Is your beef all natural or organic?
Is it true that that grass-fed beef is tough?
Is your beef 100% grassfed?
How will my beef order be packaged?
Overcooked beef will be tough and dry. Grassfed beef is much leaner than traditional beef and requires different cooking methods. For tender, juicy results the beef should be cooked for a shorter time.
Yes. Our cattle are raised on the ranch from start to finish. They graze year long. The cattle are never fed grains, animal or agricultural byproducts and are never sent to a feedlot for finishing. In the winter they are supplemented with organic hay that's harvested from our ranch.
What of I need to place a smaller order smaller than a quarter or half?
We use a small family-owned USDA-inspected packer, with an inspector examining every animal individually. The cuts of meat are double wrapped and frozen to ensure you get the freshest, tastiest meat. We have found this is the best packaging for long-term storage.
The best value for your money is to order a whole, half or quarter, each of which includes a variety of cuts from roasts to ground beef, and divide it with others you know.
When lack of freezer space is a consideration you should consider the monthly subscription package. Each month a 10 lb or 20lb variety package of beef is delivered. Subscriptions orders are available for 3-month, 6-month or 12-month periods.
For your convenience, we are happy to fill orders for smaller packages that include a variety of cuts. Additionally, with advance notice we are happy to prepare customized gift boxes.
